Playin it cool…

Last weekend I got engaged to my favorite person ever, and while I have been playing it extremely cool (“oh yeah, that happened.”), on the inside I’m more like…

So, in an effort to spread the excitement and smiles I present the next Nacho Friday addition: When Harry Met Nacho.

A Moment’s Paws

I came across this picture during this morning’s browsing routine, and I loved the mood of it. It will provide inspiration for my weekend. How, you ask (you would ask that)?

For starters, this weekend I finally have nothing on the calendar. No 100-mile bike rides, no bbq parties, no showers – bridal or otherwise. I can wake up in the morning, stretch out like a cat on my couch, grab a mug of coffee and watch Housewives until the weight of humanity is lifted off of me and I am reminded of how lucky I am not to be one of those miserable skin sacks.

Secondly, Sunday I get to enjoy the morning in a pub down the street for NFL opening weekend. This will undoubtedly lead to me making several crass and catty remarks, which will result in new friendships and rivalries, and ending in my ultimate reign as queen of smack talk.

Finally, I am fairly certain that drinking a cocktail and listening to records in on the will-do list. This picture seems to embody a 1960s flirty-but-mellow vibe to me, which is appropriate for said plan.

So there, that’s how it will be the inspo for the weekend.

Happy #NachoFriday.

Bah dah bah bah bah dah, bah-bah-bah bah dah bah dah bah dah!

That is what I have been dancing around my living room singing all morning because it’s finally here – opening day of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games!

I love the Olympics. Is it the intense human drama? Is it the stern and soothing presence of Bob Costas? Is it the sight of a moon load of perfectly in shape male bodies? It’s probably all of that, plus something extra…some X factor of intrigue and grandioseness!

Today, Nacho Friday will be in honor of the opening ceremony. I am having a handful of people over, including a Brit to make it supremely official.  I’m thinking jalapeño pepper rings and red, white and blue chips with be involved – OH, maybe blue cheese crumbles!

I can tell you the moment I feel in love with the Olympics.

I was babysitting a couple of toddlers during the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta. It was late, I was eating snacks. (Not nachos – at that point in my life I had not realized how representative they were of freedom and awesomeness.) It was the epic finale of the female gymnastics hoopla. I sat there in the family’s living room, face lit up all blue from the glowing screen in the dark room, and I witnessed Kerri Strug stick that infamous vault landing.

That was the moment I feel in love with the Olympics. I cried. I woke up the toddlers. It was worth it.

I hope that you are looking forward to following along as much as I am, but if you aren’t please reconsider. You never know what might happen. In any case, you better eat some nachos.
