Building Rome

All this talk of bursting makes me want a vintage sunburst mirror for the house now…

Taking the risk of sounding like a huge asshole, I’m going to say that I’m feeling pretty stressed right now. I know that I am extremely fortunate to have been able to purchase a home – anywhere, let alone in Southern California. However, right now I am tackling the overwhelming sense of chaotic compartmentalism.

I don’t think that is a thing. I may have just made it up, but what it means to me is this: having all your things “organized” in a way such that everything is together and apart all at once. It’s the feeling you have when you don’t know where your keys are and you’re running 40 minutes late for work. The knot in your stomach when all you need is a brush, but you can’t remember which box you put it in. (The bedroom box? The bathroom box?)

Everything is all over the place. Like all the tiny pieces that make each day run smoothly were tossed about in a sudden burst of “GOOD LUCK, SUCKER!” -ness.

This weekend is going to be about hardcore organization. Bringing everything back to where it should be. Now, where are my friggin sunglasses?
